NMIXX, JYP Entertainment‘s newest girl group, recently made their debut with “O.O” and have been receiving praise for their visuals and talent.
However, like most K-Pop idols, their road to debut wasn’t easy. The girls trained for many years, improving their skills and proving that they have what it takes to carry the company’s name.
In an episode of “PICK NMIXX,” Bae and Haewon revealed how JYP Entertainment announced that they were finally set to debut.
The topic was brought up when Haewon started describing what she felt when they were told that they made the official team. Surprisingly, rather than feeling happy, her initial emotion was relief. She was just glad that after years of training, she finally made it.
We’ve been practicing for so long, and we weren’t excluded from the debut team. We were anxiously practicing in between. Rather than feeling joyful and cheerful, I felt so relieved.

Bae opened up about her fear that the company would change their lineup. She was sure that there would be a switch of members, one way or another. Much to her relief, nothing was altered.
I was just so relieved. Our members were together for so long. Frankly speaking, I thought it would be impossible for the members to make our debut in the same team. I thought there would be some kind of change in the members. Something like that. But we kept practicing and made our debut. I thought, ‘Wow. We really did a good job.’ It was just unreal.

Bae and Haewon went on to explain what the official announcement was like. Instead of being told in a straightforward manner, the words they heard were, “You’re all together from now on.”
- Haewon: JYP Entertainment didn’t say, “You will make your debut now!“
- Bae: JYP Entertainment said, “You’re all together from now on.“
- Haewon: “You will do your best with SQU4D.“
- Bae: That’s right. That’s right. That’s right.
- Haewon: JYP Entertainment said so.
With no one being left behind, NMIXX was formed.
