At the end of 2021, ARMYs worldwide rejoiced when the members of BTS decided to create their own Instagram accounts. The group cemented their personalities on the account with their choice in username and aesthetics when it comes to posting their pictures.
One member particularly caught the attention of netizens for his Instagram, and it was none other than BTS’s Jungkook!
When the members shared their usernames, they all seemed short and concise, with Jin simply going with @jin and even a play on words like J-Hope‘s @uarmyhope. However, Jungkook gained attention worldwide when he completely changed that trend and went with @abcdefghi_lmnopqrstuvwxyz.
Many netizens joked that the username was because Jungkook had a secret account in the past and didn’t want to change the name. Yet, it was so unique that everyone became obsessed with it… even some of the biggest global brands in the world.

On March 16 (KST), netizens were in for the shock of their lives when they went to search for Jungkook’s Instagram username… and it had changed.
It seems as if the youngest BTS member decided overnight to change his iconic and unique username to @Jungkook.97, which combined his name and year of birth.
After almost four months of the username, ARMYs had to say goodbye to @abcdefghi_lmnopqrstuvwxyz, and of course, they shared their reactions online. As expected, so many shared their sadness over the sudden change.
