Korean Jeweler Behind HyunA And DAWN’s Engagement Rings Says The Pair Cost “A Year’s Rent”

Jewelry designer Yueun Esther Shin, the mastermind behind the brand Diligems, revealed some details about HyunA and DAWN‘s engagement rings in the latest Instagram post.
On February 3, 2022, DAWN proposed to HyunA in an Instagram story showing off their matching rings with the caption asking, “MARRY ME?” HyunA responded with an enthusiastic “Yes,” promising her boyfriend of six years a happily ever after.
Pleasantly surprised by the news of their engagement, K-Pop fans grew increasingly curious about the “uncommon” design of their rings. Responding to the attention, Yueun revealed that the matching pair has been custom-made and is, indeed, one and only, “never [to] be duplicated.”
I had the honor of designing an exciting pair of rings for the dreamiest of couples. I would like to point out that they were customized for the couple ONLY and will never be duplicated.

Yueun also revealed that DAWN has been absolutely dedicated to getting the design exactly right.
Dawn came to my studio to discuss the design for over a month and even chose the opals and diamonds himself. We also ran into technical difficulties delaying the process and [were] pushed to try new things to resolve the problems.

Set with “opals and seven diamonds of different shapes and colors,” the rings came to life with “so much love, effort, and time,” according to Yueun.
Finally, via the post published in both English and Korean—combined in the translations below, the designer asked that the value of these unique pieces be respected, though pointing out that “it is not possible to put a price tag on love.”
The rings are made of white gold with opals as their main stones and 7 diamonds of different shapes and colors. (Opals are HyunA’s favorite!) It is not possible to put a price tag on love. But so much love, effort, and time went into the rings and it’s low-key killing me to see people idly jumping to conclusions about the pieces without any type of proactive inquiry or due diligence.
To be frank, the cost of their rings paid for my year’s rent. #LoveIsntCheap
