10+ K-Pop Idols That Proved They’re Talented AND Smart By Attending University

It may be hard to imagine juggling a K-Pop idol career with university, but somehow, some idols have managed to do it! In fact, not only do many idols have (or are working on) a bachelor’s degree, but some have gone even further into post-graduate education as well! Here are 10+ of the many idols who have gone on to further their education despite their hectic schedules.
1. S.Coups, Jeonghan, Hoshi, Woozi, & Wonwoo (SEVENTEEN)
These members of SEVENTEEN, along with other Pledis Entertainment idols (such as NU’EST‘s Minhyun, Baekho, JR, and Ren) enrolled at Hanyang University Institute For Future Talents as freshman in 2020, pursuing a degree in Practical Music in the K-Pop Division!
2. Xiumin (EXO)
While other members of EXO such as Suho, Baekhyun, Chanyeol, and Chen reportedly studied at Kyung Hee Cyber University (which has been scrutinized by some netizens), Xiumin received a master’s degree in music at Catholic Kwandong University! He also allegedly entered a doctorate program at Hoseo University, which is even more impressive!
3. Shownu (MONSTA X)
While most K-Pop idols study music or a similar field if they attend university, Shownu actually received a bachelor’s degree in Economics! He was also pursuing a master’s degree a couple of years ago, and might have finished it by now.
4. Sojin (Girl’s Day)
Like Shownu, Sojin didn’t pursue a degree in music, but actually studied Mechanical Engineering at Yeungnam University! Apparently, among the 1,000 students in this field, there were only eight women, making her accomplishment even more impressive.
5. Kun (WayV)
Kun is, currently, the only member of NCT with a known college degree! He studied Pop Vocal Performance at Beijing Contemporary Music Institute, which he graduated from with a bachelor’s degree in 2017 before he debuted with the K-Pop group. He even has a gold star in the institute’s walk of fame!
6. All of BTS
The six oldest members of BTS have all completed their undergraduate education in the Entertainment & Media Division at Global Cyber University (except for Jin, who has a major in Film Studies from Konkuk University), with Jungkook still in the process of completing his. Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, and V are all in post-graduate programs now through online classes!
7. Dowoon & Young K (DAY6)
Dowoon has a bachelor’s degree in Applied Music from Busan Arts College, and Young K has a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Dongguk University!
8. Xiaoting (Kep1er)
Though Xiaoting is new to the K-Pop industry, she’s already completed a university degree! She studied in the Department of Performance at Conservatory of Music University, which she graduated from before her debut.
9. All of SHINee
Not only did all of SHINee’s members complete their undergraduate degrees, but they all received master’s degrees as well! Jonghyun (despite dropping out of high school in 10th grade) and Taemin both have a master’s degree in Film and Musical Studies from Myongji University, and while Key completed the same at the undergraduate level, he later earned a master’s degree in Culture and Education Contents Development at Woosuk University. Minho got his master’s degree in Film Acting from Konkuk University, and finally, Onew received his in Practical Music from Chungwoon University!
10. Inseong and Jaeyoon (SF9)
Inseong earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communications from Kyunghee University, while Jaeyoon received his bachelor’s degree in Music from Dongah Institute!
11. Nine (OnlyOneOf)
Though it’s unknown which university he attends, Nine is allegedly pursuing a degree in Cosmetics and Biotechnology to follow his dream of creating his own perfume someday!
12. Soobin and EXY (Cosmic Girls/WJSN)
Soobin and EXY both attended Dongduk Women’s University, though while EXY is known to have earned a bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting and Entertainment, Soobin’s major is unknown (although she’s also allegedly pursuing a master’s degree now!).
13. Jay B, Jinyoung, Youngjae, & Yugyeom (GOT7)
Jay B attended Geonguk University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Film. Jinyoung allegedly has a bachelor’s degree in Acting from Howon University, while Youngjae attended International Cyber University and earned his bachelor’s degree there (and is now pursuing his master’s degree at Hanyang Cyber Graduate School). And finally, Yugyeom has a bachelor’s degree in Modeling from Taekyung University!
