With the pandemic still raging worldwide, year-end celebrations have been forced to be kept to a minimum. Despite this limitation, Hong Kong—a city famous for its epic large-scale firework shows and event celebrations during the holiday season—has safely held a countdown concert with a star-studded artist line-up!

On December 31, 2021, the Hong Kong New Year Countdown Concert welcomed its audience to the West Kowloon Cultural District, an open space where visitors can spend a relaxing day out by the harbor. To prevent the potential spread of COVID-19, the Hong Kong Tourism Board put various preventive measures in place, such as requiring vaccination records to enter the ticket draw and checking temperatures at the venue to attend the event.

Singer Alfred Hui and MIRROR’s Edan Lui performed their songs for the first time on this night accompanied by the orchestra. Edan Lui also wowed the crowd with his well-known talent of singing to his own piano performance.
