Popular Korean Actress Who Shaved Off Her Eyebrows For The Sake Of Her Character

Her face pulled it off effortlesly!

It is no secret that the South Korean entertainment industry has a very strict beauty standard for women, although so is the case for many other industries across the world. Korean actresses, much like female K-Pop idols, go through painstaking hard work to maintain their beautiful appearances. But a popular actress recently earned praise after she underwent a shocking transformation.

The actress in question is none other than Go Min Si, best known for her latest projects, Youth Of May (2021) and Sweet Home (2020), two global hit K-Dramas.

She is a part of the upcoming movie Smugglers. The story is set in a seaside village in the 1970s and follows female divers who have lost their jobs due to the construction of a chemical plant. These women then get involved in smuggling, and chaos unleashes. The movie has industry big-names, including Kim Hye Soo and Yum Jung Ah, playing the leading roles. Go Min Si portrays the character of Go Ok Boon, the youngest of the group who runs a coffee shop.

Recently released, some still photos from the movie were released to the public, which raised anticipation. Kim Hye Soo’s doll-like visuals came through, even in outfits and makeup suited to portray a poor diver’s character. On the other hand, fans were taken aback to see how different Go Min Si looked as Ok Boon. She is seen sporting pencil-thin eyebrows, old-fashioned makeup, and a traditional hanbok. The look complement’s the movie’s setting accurately, though the actress’s appearance is shockingly unfamiliar.

During an interview for the movie, the actress revealed that she actually shaved off her eyebrow to make her makeup look realistic. She added that the makeup alone would take one to two hours, surprising her co-star Park Jung Min.
