Korean Teacher In Her 30s Sentenced For Sexually Exploiting Her Student

A teacher has been found guilty of having a sexual relationship with her student.

On July 18, it was reported that a Daegu court sentenced a teacher to 19 months in prison, suspended for three years. The teacher will also have to undergo 40 hours of child abuse education and will not be allowed to work with children for 5 years.

Prosecutors reportedly had pushed for a two-year sentence, but news reports state that the judge took into consideration the fact that the victim did not want his teacher to be punished.

At the time of the crime, the victim was 17 and too young to give consent. Therefore the defendant sexually assaulted the victim. The court took into consideration the fact that the defendant, who has a responsibility as a teacher to protect and guide her pupils, chose a student to be the target of her sexual lust and the fact that the defendant has not shown any remorse. The court also took into account the fact that the defendant has settled with the victim’s parents and that the victim doesn’t want the defendant to be punished.

Previously it was reported that a High School teacher and her student had sex 11 times between May 2022 – June 2022. The relationship became national news when the teacher’s husband found out about the inappropriate relationship and reported her to the police.
